Only in 2015, there were 12 steel construction buildings that were recognized by the Innovative Design in Engineering and Architecture with Structural Steel awards program. All the projects and their team members got respectful recognition during NASCC: the conference held in Nashville.
This conference is conducted on an annual basis. American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and the IDEAS awards aim and target to recognize and honor the perfection seen in the design of steel-framed buildings.
These awards are the most dignified and valuable for building projects in the US.
To decide the winners of this award, a full-fledged panel of professionals coming from the design and construction industry sit and identifies winners of Nation and Marit.

Denver Union Station, Denver
This landmark is located on the edge of the central business district of Denver. This union Station is built on the concept of the Beaux-Arts concept. The transformation and expansion of this station was commissioned to SOM. There were 14 surrounding blocks that were supposed to be transformed into a big transportation hub of the region
Circuit of the Americas Observation Tower and Austin 360 Amphitheater, Austin, Texas
This steel structural landmark got Merit Award due to its magnificent and tremendous architect and structure. The design of this building was actually about capturing all the energies of Formula 1 racing.
This dramatically erected 250ft tall tower is an observatory that provides a focal point for the brand new Central Texas and Circuit of the Americas.
The tower has been carved wisely and intelligently into the site’s basic typography. This helps in enhancing the views and acoustics of the performers.
Landscape Evolution Observatory at Biosphere 2, ORACLE, ARIZ
This landscape Evolution Observatory (LEO) has been constructed by the University of Arizona. The purpose of constructing this magnificent building was to understand nature and all the natural mechanisms and effects that occur in the entire landscape scene.
This building is located Biosphere2, which is right in the north of Tucson, Ariz. $6.7 million were spent on this experiment and this is by far the hugest weighing lysimeter. This is serving as a measuring device that helps in understanding the link and interaction of soil water, vegetation, and temperature among other present elements of the environment.
Minnesota Fallen Firefighters Memorial, ST. Paul, MINN
This building is a memorial located in Saint Paul. It is constructed to honor the sacrifice of all those firefighters who lost their lives while giving away their duties in different incidents of Minnesota. This landmark houses the stature of the Minnesota Firefighter Memorial. This statue was first housed at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport.
Hilton Columbus Downtown High Street Bridge, Columbus, OHIO
This bridge is 105ft long. this enclosed walkway is made up of glass and the construction cost of this high street bridge is $4.5 million. This uniquely designed bridge connects two magnificently constructed Hilton Hotels.
The entire bridge is supported by one steel tube that is found overhead and suspended ribs are also made up of steel. The purpose of the construction company for using glass is to keep up the transparency and lightness both at the same time. This bridge is unlike any other bridge in the city.
